About once a month Phil and I get together and take long walk to a local watering hole we enjoy to grab a bite, have a drink or two and do a little catching up. On our way back - usually freezing this time of year - we plan to record a short podcast to capture what we thinking about at that moment in time. This new sub series of the podcast will be entitled `Talks by the Bridge with Phil Giroux`.
To be honest it was becoming embarrassing that nothing new has been posted here in over a year.
Here`s hoping for more new full length episodes of the podcast soon.. Maybe.
On this Offbeat News episode of the podcast my guest Craig Irving and I take on The Great Punk Fire, Meat Money and Nickelback Punishments.
Just to warn you guys ahead of time. My alter ego Debbie Downer makes several appearances throughout our discussion. It is best you advance with caution.
Let the... fun?... begin!
Unless you've been in a coma for the past month due to a meth binge you've likely heard Donald J. Trump has become president of the United States. Pretty much everyone and his mother has an opinion on this and today is our misguided turn.
On the podcast today Trevor Cavanagh, Curtis Charlton and I take on Dumbo Goes to Washington.. and what it all means.
The Humplik Happy Hour Snoring Mini Special.
Had a good discussion about the current state of the US election and the Gawker / Hulk Hogan lawsuit with Yahoo News national correspondent Hunter Walker. He's been on the road reporting on both Trump and Clinton campaigns. On the podcast he provides some really great insight on what is taking place behind the scenes.
You can find Hunter on twitter:
A quick story today about the Middle Finger Salute and where it originated from.
On the podcast today Craig Irving and I take on:
1. Yatch the band and the fake alien sex tape.
2. The Indonesian Sex Doll Goddess
3. American Singles looking to hook up with Canadian singles to get away from Donald Trump. I mean seriously, who can blame them.
I realize it sounds like a lot of sex in these stories. Don't worry, there's nothing sexy at all about them.
I hit a huge milestone in my life last week. I turned 50. This got me on the search for what is awaiting me physically in my advanced years... and it ain't all good.
I put together a master list of physical changes that will happen to all of us and outline the highlights that await.
Thanks to my buddy Al Pilon for the self portrait.
This episode of the podcast is dedicated to Mawt Trood.
A really short podcast today in memory of Joy Division's Ian Curtis who played his last show 36 years ago tonight.
I know I know... Two podcasts in the same week. This dental story that i'm sharing here today was for my own piece of mind. You've been warned.
Slowly getting back into the swing of things after a long winter off. Just a quick one on celebrity death and the passing of Negativland's Richard Lyons.
On this special depressed edition of the show today Mike Hickey and I take on the death of Wes Craven, the resurrection of Guns and Roses and Metal Mayhem in Bucharest Romania.
On this September 2015 episode of the Humplik Happy Hour Podcast my guest Trevor Cavanagh and I take on:
PeeGate and the great fall of the Canadian Conservatives.
Sarah Palin wants you to speak American.
Attack of the Drones.
And a lot more crap you'll never want to hear of again.
Trevor can be found on twitter at @trevorjcavanagh
On the show today my guest Phil Nakis and I take on The Death of Hitchbot, The Bartering of Transylvanian Blood, Do Snakes and Religion make a Good Match and Getting Hammered on Alcohol Gas.
On this month's podcast Paul Anthony and I get back to basics taking on a few offbeat stories that have popped into the news this past month.
On the show today we take on Sex Pistols Credit Cards, Funding for the first porn in space, the 40th anniversary of Jaws and NBC sports wanting NHL hockey players to shave their beards.
Zoice is a new podcast i'm collaborating on with my wife Sharlene Hoftyzer and friend Paul Anthony. It's a monthly short story about things that capture our imagination. I'll be throwing up the first couple of episodes on this feed but if you wish to subscribe to it moving forward you'll need to do so on iTunes or zoice.com. iTunes should be set up shortly.
Thanks for listening everyone...
A few weeks ago I was browsing around netflix one night looking for something to watch when I stumbled on a documentary that caught my eye.
The documentary Transcendant man is about futurist Ray Kurzweil and his predictions of what lies ahead for us in the next 50 years.
If even half his predictions come true there's a crazy world just ahead of us that really none of us can begin to comprehend.
The doc got me thinking it would be fun to have a discussion about the future with Phil Giroux on the podcast.. he's an avid follower of technological trends and always seems to have has a pulse on these things as you'll soon discover..
Buckle up your spaceships and enjoy the ride..
New show available on wiseidiots.com the first of every month. Listen in directly or subscribe to the monthly show on iTunes.
My guest today is American television personality, producer, filmmaker, and musician Max Lugavere. He is best know for his hosting and producing work on Al Gore's Current TV and the AOL original web series "Acting Disruptive". On this podcast we had an informative discussion about his latest project "Bread Head", a documentary about Alzheimer’s disease and ways to prevent it.
Max can be found online at the following locations:
My past few podcasts have been on the more serious side. I decided it was time to change things up a bit and give my friend Mike Hickey a call. We had a casual chat about the cell phones, the music industry, horror films and facts about the body.
Don't miss the big ending.
I've been wanting to do a health related podcast for a while now and was waiting until I got the perfect guest. Today was the day.
Sarah can be found at the following locations:
Facebook: Look up The Paleo Mom, over 200K others have already.
Podcast: The Paleo View
The majority of us will go our entire lives without being the victim of a serious crime. Unfortunately Jane Piper wasn't so lucky. She and I had brutal and honest discussion about the repercussions of being the victim of rape. A heads up, some of the content matter in this episode is graphic and disturbing.
After a little hiatus it was time to get the rust out and record a new podcast. Trevor, myself and his two pugs got together and talked about Rob Ford, the NSA, over priced iPhones, the upcoming winter Olympics and the ideal economic system.
With everything going on with the Rob Ford scandal in Toronto I thought it would be fun to have some conversations with some friends of mine about the subject. On this special "Rob Ford Special" I exchanged banter with TV Producer Derek Harvie, Podcast regulars Trevor Cavanagh and Phil Giroux, Writer Michael Murray, Criminal Lawyer Michael Spratt and TV's funnyman Kenny Hotz.
Criminal lawyer Michael Spratt is back to share his take on some recent legal stories in the news. A really informative discussion on the latest NSA scandal, doctor assisted suicide, the dangers of provincial jails, homeless rights and much much more.
